Society, what is it?
The thing that tells us who to be
And decides what we can do
Tells us to be us but yet how to be ‘me’
How to live your life and with who.
Tells young girls to cover their face
Even though make up makes them fake
So they have to look natural without a trace
Even though ‘natural’ beauty isn’t quite the take.
Maybe it’s time to disregard society
And make our own decisions
But we’re all filled with this social anxiety
And aren’t ready to make these revisions.
As we sit here on our Apple technology
And idolising Steve jobbs creation
Who used child slavery to create this ideology
But yet we will never change our reaction
Because we’re all so full of forgiveness
As we forget every sin of a celebrity
But not the sins created by homelessness.
We’re tricked into believing we’re ill
To buy more unneeded medication
To believe we’ve got free will
But we’re controlled by our nation.
Society.
It tells us what’s wrong and right
But says we have to defend ourself
But it’s rebellion if we fight
So we sit here on the lower shelf
With the government sat up high
Controlling our every movement
And brainwashing us with a simple lie
Believing we’re voting for an improvement
But only seeing the options they allow.
By what standards are we judged
By what standards can we pass judgement
If the taxes that are dodged
Require such a detrimental punishment
That missing children are never found
But the things that the government tell us
Need to be held to the ground
Because one less life no longer requires a fuss.
When schools care about grades
But not about the wellbeing
Because intelligence is valued higher
Than an actual human being.
But we’re all stuck in our ways
In a world that’s entirely controlled
As we pass by the days
Until our stories are no longer told…
i wrote this in 2016, twenty motherfucking sixteen and everything has just gotten worse
i’ve changed so much since i first started or even used this tumblr, it was such an integral part to my teen years, well now i’m 20 and i’m back to update that i’m still a bad ass, i got cooler, and believe it or not there is a future for a small, outcast non binary kid to make a name for themself x (i also study fashion at university, wild how much has changed ey?)
